Here's the Bush quote from a press conference yesterday at the White House with Iraqi prime minister Allawi.
I saw a poll that said the right track/wrong track in Iraq was better than here in America.
It was pretty darn strong. I mean, the people see a better future.

This is a multi-dimensional gaffe. I'll assume for a moment that there is some evidence for this claim. That would mean that Americans are less happy with our national direction than citizens of a country that's been invaded, occupied, bombed, and where there's an active violent resistance to the occupation. Still want to make that claim? Also, Bush has claimed in the past that he pays no attention to the polls. Either he wasn't telling the truth then or he's a (gasp!) flip-flopper.

There was a new Kerry ad today that shows Bush saying this. Produced overnight!
Kerry's taking advantage of Bush's blunder yesterday (see my previous post).

Here's a link to a page where you can view the new ad. The ad is called Right Track.

He also made a speech today that criticized Bush's wrong choices. It's very hard-hitting with lots of specifics. Here's a link to the speech:

The GOP has admitted to mailings suggesting that liberals want to ban bibles. These mailings were sent to voters in Arkansas and West Virginia. Here's link to a New York Times article on this topic:

I can't imagine that too many people will be fooled by this. Even so, it's reprehensible. I know that politics is often a gutter sport, but must it be at the bottom of the gutter?
This is not, sadly, a story from The Onion. Consider visiting that link if this story is too much for you. Congressional negotiations added 13 billion dollars of corporate tax breaks to a package of middle class tax breaks, but did not see fit to add any help for poor families. The excuse offered was that the Earned Income Tax Credit is currently being abused and needs correction before further relief can be offered to low income groups.

I'm not sure where this bill stands now, but the situation described here applied as of 9/23. Here's a link to the Washington Post's story:

After all, it's futile to tax the rich. As president Bush observed, they'll just find a way to dodge taxes anyway.
Finally, a poll worth noticing! 75% of Klingons polled support Kerry. 25% supported Satan. None chose Bush.

The Klingons, in case you don't know, are the fierce warrior race from Star Trek. Honor is highly important to them.
