He who must not be named

Nope, not Voldemort, it's Cheney, oops, I mean Senior Administration Official. While on a plane today, a senior administration official spoke from 3:09PM to 3:25PM. From 3:19PM to 3:23PM on the same flight, the vice president spoke.
The senior administration official said things like this:
"Let me just make one editorial comment here. I've seen some press reporting says, 'Cheney went in to beat up on [the Pakistani government], threaten them.' That's not the way I work. I don't know who writes that, or maybe somebody gets it from some source who doesn't know what I'm doing, or isn't involved in it. But the idea that I'd go in and threaten someone is an invalid misreading of the way I do business."
Doesn't leave much doubt about who this really is, does it?

What is up with this guy? Does he get some twisted pleasure out of forcing the press to mis-identify him? And if he's going to do this, why not at least speak of himself in the third person and make a minor effort to pretend he's someone else.
At least he's not using the royal "we" - yet.
And finally, I'd really like to know what the valid misreading of how he does business is. Wait, I know, how about shooting someone in the face?
