I've some photos from last week that I took with my wife's SLR + telephoto. As long as the fence in the foreground is a reasonable distance away from the subject, the fence is somehow magically defocused out of the picture. I'll post one or two of those later this week.
Alas, with my nifty little digital camera it's very hard to override the autofocus. The only way to do it is to focus on something the same distance as what you want it to use, keep the shutter button half depressed, and pray. A "focus on infinity" or something of the sort wouldn't have been too hard an option to implement.
OTOH, if there were no fence, the snow leopards couldn't have been hanging off it like house cats on a screen door.
