McCain: hazy on geography?
Jul. 22nd, 2008 12:17 amYou'd think McCain would be more aware of the geography of the most important front of the war on terror (important according to Republicans anyway). He recently spoke of the potential for a “very hard struggle, particularly given the situation on the Iraq-Pakistan border.”
Just one problem - there is no Iraq-Pakistan border. It seems most likely that he meant Afghanistan, not Iraq, since that border is where there probably are some terrorists hiding. He's been confused about the war before. He thought Iran was supplying Sunni groups in Iraq, a notion that's laughable if you know anything about the region.
BTW, Winston Churchill is said to have renamed Iran to Persia during WWII so as to avoid this potential confusion.
