I don't know this publication or this writer, so I'm not sure how reliable this story is. He claims he's got three witnesses to the following exchange regarding the Patriot Act.
“I don’t give a goddamn,” Bush retorted. “I’m the President and the Commander-in-Chief. Do it my way.”
“Mr. President,” one aide in the meeting said. “There is a valid case that the provisions in this law undermine the Constitution.”
“Stop throwing the Constitution in my face,” Bush screamed back. “It’s just a goddamned piece of paper!”
Though I believe the exchange represents Bush's attitude, I can't quite believe he'd actually say that.
For this to be true, the famously loyal Bush administration would have to be springing some serious leaks.
In case Santa is listening, I'd like the tape.
