Pierce on Douthat on Hitchens
Dec. 23rd, 2011 03:27 pmRuss Douthat (I always think of him as Russ Don'tDothat), one of the faith-based columnists in the NYT, has written an absolutely revolting obituary of Christopher Hitchens. Douthat tries to claim that despite Hitchen's explicit and outspoken atheism that Hitchens was somehow in sympathy with religious people. That Douthat thinks he's got sufficient writing skillz to pull this off looks like a dual example of hubris and chutzpah. If there was an afterlife, Hitchens would have left it to haunt Douthat for remainder of his own logic-deficient existence. So if Douthat isn't being haunted by the ghost of belligerent drunk who is ten times the writer Douthat will ever be, there is no God. Hey Russ, how does it feel to be a believer and to conclusively prove the non-existence of God?
