Chipmonk

Most mornings there's a chipmunk behind our house posing on a tree stump. They're way trickier to photograph than squirrels. If you make a noise, even inside the house, he's gone like a shot.

It took me a while to notice that he was responsible for the loud "tick" or "chip" calls I'd been hearing from that vicinity. I'd been thinking it was a bird, but I never saw one around when I heard the calls. Chipmunks seem too small to be that noisy, but apparently they are.
