The wars really were about oil?
Jun. 25th, 2008 11:44 pmThat's what John McCain seems to be saying below. Didn't he get the memo telling everyone that it was all about security?
"I also want to make sure that we will take concrete steps towards eliminating our dependence on foreign oil. And I am confident that uh, the, the conflicts that we are in in both Iraq and Afghanistan have also a bearing on that."
I have trouble seeing just what he means here. I suppose it's possible that oil prices will become more stable when Iraq becomes more stable, but how does the conflict in Afghanistan affect oil prices? I hope some intrepid reporter asks him to explain just what bearing our wars have on the price of oil. The kindest interpretation I can put on this statement is that he's confused.
