The Rebel Alliance vs Real ID
Feb. 1st, 2007 12:28 amVia Bruce Schneier, security guru, there's some news about Real ID. This passed Congress a while back attached to an appropriations bill for the Iraq war and received no debate. Maine has voted not to implement it.

Says Orcinus, "The ACLU confirms that several other states, including Georgia, Montana, New Hampshire, New Mexico, and Washington, may soon fall in behind Maine's lead."

Can't happen too soon for me. Real ID is another one of those unfunded Federal mandates which will make life just a bit more difficult (and more expensive) for all of us without conferring any significant benefit.
