Downing Street "memo" revisted
Jun. 8th, 2005 11:45 amI wrote about this memo back when it was big news in the UK, but virtually unknown here. Yes, I know it's really the minutes of a high-level British government meeting and not a memo at all. The latest on this is that Bush and Blair gave a press conference and denied that intelligence had been "fixed". Here's one article:

Blair rather cleverly claims that,
"No, the facts were not being fixed in any shape or form at all."
while blithely not mentioning the intelligence.
You can read more about the memo and efforts to publicize it here:

I don't usually tout on-line petitions, but this one might be worth the trouble. The administration will certainly ignore it, but lots of signatures would show people care about this. The media seem to assume that Bush's lies are old news and that nobody minds. Anyway, I signed it.
There are also ongoing efforts on Daily Kos to publicize the Downing street memo. See here for more details:

Be sure to look for the latest diary entry to get the current action items.
I'd be getting deeply into this, but I'm about to be employed for an interval. Yay! I'll still be doing what time permits.
